Two amazing vacation layouts - July Wayfarer & June Seaside Kits

Hello Everyone!!!
It's another cold and rainy summer season in Anchorage.  As I have said before, it makes for some really cranky folks in the middle of the Winter.  They don't get enough Vitamin D.  LOL!

Here's my first layout using the Scraps of Darkness, July The Wayfarer Kit.  This kit is filled with Blue Fern Studios and 49 and Market, in the most delicious colors, perfect for Alaska photos.  This first layout features my youngest grandson Cameron fishing, and could you look at the size of that pole....it's almost twice his size.

I chose one of the Blue Fern Studios "Wanderlust" papers for my background, which I mounted on cardstock.  I did a little stamping around the page using the Gabi "Script Squared" stamp (it was included in last month's Scraps of Elegance kit, and is also available in our store).

I layered several of the papers from the Main Kit to mat my photo.  I tucked in the bird image which I fussy cut from another BFS paper, and then added the border chipboard included in the Main Kit to the right of the photo.

The flower clusters were created using a BFS flower from the Floral Add On and the turquoise flowers from previous kits.  On top of the cluster at the bottom left I used another chipboard from the Main Kit.

To the bottom right of the photo I added some of the emphemera goodies from the Prima Traveler's Journal in the Main Kit.

The title was cut from a Wanderlust paper.  I added lots of Prills from a previous kit around the layout to give it more texture.

I'm back with you dear scrappy friends with my 4th project using the Scraps of Darkness June Kit "Seaside".  As I've mentioned before we have so many rivers and lakes Alaska, as well as coastline, it would be impossible to visit them all.  The main problem is access.  A lot of them are only accessible by water or airplane.  This layout is my baby girl with my sweet grandsons taken at the Deschuka River near the Talkneetna Mountains, north of Anchorage.  The picture was taken in August, so it was getting pretty chilly.  You can see how the leaves have turned on the trees in the background.

I started by using the Kaisercraft "High Tide" Overboard paper for my background.  There is another paper from that collection that is striped in the Coordinating Paper Add On, which I cut apart to form the border elements on the lo.  I inked around the layout using the Prima Color Philosophy dye ink "Summer Vibes" from the Color Add On.

I used a notecard image for the photo mat and title from the Patterned Paper Add On.  The photo is framed with a Creative Embellishment chipboard from my stash that I left naked.  I like the texture and color for the layout.

To create the flower clusters I started by making die cut leaf branches.  I used 3 different Kaisercraft papers to get some depth and variety of color.  The Prima beige flowers come in the Floral Add On.  The blue ones from 49th and Market are included in the Creativity Add On.  I tucked in some beige netting which came filled with cantaloupe lol!!!  I tucked in little shells, stickers from the Main Kit, a giant starfish and a twine bow.  I also used some aqua gems that come in the Scraps of Elegance June Kit.

Last, I went wild with brown Prills from a previous kit all around the layout.  I found a paintbrush that works really well for adhering the Prills.  It has very short bristles that are straight at the ends.  The bristles are about 1/4" long and really help placing the beads.

Hope you enjoyed my creative process today.  Don't forget to check back in for more design team inspiration.

Take care and have a wonderful day!!

Kathy
