Three wonderful layouts - revisiting July Wayfarer and June Seaside kits

Hell Dear Friends!!!

I'm Kathy Mosher with a layout using the Scraps of Darkness July kit "Wayfarer"

This is a special layout for me.  The photo was taken by my niece Dani Ulstad.  She has her own photography business in Portland, Oregon ( http://www.ronnyandrenedesigns.com )  The young lady in the photo is her sister and one of my other nieces, Bre.  This picture was taken at Miramar Beach, Florida, so this is my homage to all under attack today but Irma.  I absolutely love the colors and the expression on Bre's face.  

I call this a "naked" layout because there is no gesso, inks, etc. used on the background, just some little spatters of white paint.  After I matted the photo, I added a gorgeous piece of lace under it, which you can barely see!  The embellishments are centered around that gorgeous piece of chipboard from Dusty Attic that I had in my stash.  I tried the white Crackle Paint from Ranger, and absolutely love the effect I got.  I was going to do some inking to help make the cracks show up, but I didn't have to and was afraid that it would darken the colors and feel of the layout.  

I created flower clusters on each side using the 49th and Market neutral colored flowers from the Main Kit, as well as the sweet sage green flowers from the Floral Add On.  I touched in some shells, gauzy fabric to match her dress, and some twine that are stems cut from the flowers to give a more organic feeling.  I also added some Art Stones from a previous kit.  Love the effect.  

For my last detail, I added the sentiment that I cut from one of the BFS papers.  It's perfect for Bre right now.  It's her senior year!!!

Gosh, I love this 'Wayfarer' kit so much.  Guess it's cause it is so filled with nature images.  

This layout features my son, Patrick, fishing at Montana Creek.  I call it "The River Runs Through It".  Watching him fish reminds me of that movie.  He is quite the fisherman!!  

I started with the 49th and Market paper included in the Coordinating Paper Add On.  We have loads of ferns in Alaska, so they are the perfect embellishment for this layout.  I ripped some Blue Fern Studio paper (green) and placed them at the top and bottom.  I decided to add some stamping that looked like the river flowing. Then I fussy cut the gorgeous large ferns from the 49th and Market "Flora and Fauna" image paper.  Takes time and accuracy, but well worth the effort.  You can see the microbeads that I added to look like the spores growing on the ferns.  You can also see the brown flowersfrom a previous kit that I added for texture.  Pat didn't like them....but I think they add something.

Each of the photos have layers that I created from the Ephemera packet that comes in the Main kit.  I love using these little tags and pieces around a photo!  The Summit image was fussy cut from one of the BFS papers.  I wanted to add it as it looks like lots of the mountains around us.

I wanted to embellish with real fishing flies, hooks, weights, etc.  Some of these have actually been used.  I had to cut off the tips of the hooks, so that I wouldn't get one stuck in my finger!  lol!

I'm back to share my last layout using the Scraps of Darkness June kit "Seaside".  I have really enjoyed this kit, so much so that I had to create an addition layout.  This layout features my youngest grandson, Cameron early this month on a really fun camping trip.  He can be a very serious thoughtful child, you never know if you are going to get a smile lol!  

I used the Kaisercraft "High Tide" paper for the background and layered 49th and Market "Sand and Sea" paper from the Patterned Paper Add-On and Main Kit.  I ripped the top two layers to get a wavy effect.  I tucked in some joint tape to added texture.  I stamped some fish at various places.  I also splattered some white ink and "Faded Jeans" Oxide Ink that comes in one of the Scraps of Elegance Add Ons.  

I love multi-photo layouts.  I think get the whole story.  I matted these 2 photos in joint tape.  The background paper has this really cool design of the seaweed drifting in the current.  Well, in the Elements Add On are the 3-D Embellishments from 49th and Market that coordinate.  So I used them on top of the design to give lots of dimension.

Under the photos I applied some of the tulle to add to the flowing feeling of the layout.  Beneath the tulle a created a flower/seashell/starfish collage.  Now this was fun to make.  I used flowers from the Floral and Creativity Add Ons.  I also added in the starfish by 49th and Market from the 3-D embellishments.

Two Beautiful Blue Layouts - July Country Chic Kit

Hello everyone!  Nicole here to share with you layout #4

created with the Scraps of Elegance July 'Country Chic' kit.

My intention was to create only 3 layouts and some cards with this kit, but I had so many leftovers and still so many gorgeous papers to use that I decided to do a 4th layout to showcase this fabulous kit.

I layered many different pieces of papers behind my picture

and added lots of flowers on which I sprinkled some of the glitter

included in the Elements add-on kit.

I love that the Kaisercraft papers come with a quote on each paper lining.

Look at those gorgeous purplish blue butterflies!

What a beautiful colour palette I was able to put together for this layout to go along with my outfit on the picture.  Love it!

Hello, scrappy peeps! 

It's time for me to share another project created with the July Scraps of Elegance Kit which features 49 and Market's Cottage Life collection as well as KaiserCraft's Lilac Whisper along with tons of embellishments. 

"Collecting Eggs"

I found this wonderful old "still" photo of Lucille Ball among my Lucy photos and knew I wanted to use it if it possibly worked out at all. (The photo was taken by John Springer and is part of the Corbis collection now available through Getty images.)

I've used the back side of Cottage Life: Fresh Delivery as my base layer and included a torn layer of side B from Bicycle Alley. You can see that I've fussy cut images from Watering the Garden and Cottage Cut Outs.

To add some interest, I threw some watered down gesso across the center of the page before adhering a Blue Fern Studios Swirly Circle chipboard piece from my stash. Everything was built upon those layers.
Once my basic composition was figured out, the layout went together fairly quickly.

I adore the sweet Papermania notelets which serve as doily layers. The remainder of the layout relies heavily on the Cottage Life layered embellishments from the Elements add-on as well as flowers from the Floral add-on.

My title was computer generated and adhered to a piece of the striped side of the Garland paper.

More flowers tucked all around and dabbed with white gesso to blend. You can see some of my random sisal poking out to the side. 

My "Lucy" subtitle was just small alphas from my stash. I had one last layered butterfly and used it here!

Mixed Media Monday - Country Chic kit!

Hello crafters! Lisa here to share my first layout created with the Scraps of Elegance kit called 'Country Chic' full of 49& Market goodies.

'Let your light shine'

One of the prettiest papers of the Cottage Life collection is 'Branching Out', which I used as my base and then created a messy background with heavy white gesso and lots of watercolors.

I also tried a new way of using embossing powder that I've seen some of my favourite scrappers do. You start with a stencil and use either gloss gel or light gesso, and then while it's still wet,

sprinkle over the embossing powder and dry with your heat gun. I tried it here with the purple Lindy's embossing powder included in the main kit, and I love how it turned out.

I was so excited to see some silicone molds and paper clay in the Creativity Add On this month! I've been wanting to try them for so long. The molds are so easy to use!  All you do is press the paper clay into the mold, carefully remove, and let dry over night.

You can paint them or use waxes, here I just used a little watercolor on one of the keyholes.

 I started with some of the 49 & Market paper and added some stenciling with heavy white gesso, some stamping with the Blue Fern Studios stamp, and then added some watercolors, the 49 & Market embellishments, the Blue Fern Studios chipboard,

and finally some resin pieces that I made with the paper clay and molds from this months Creativity Add On.
