Anna's Texturific Layout

Good morning everyone!
It's Friday!
We were hit with a bit of snow last night, and it is really windy causing some visibility issues.
I am supposed to be taking my stepson to work, but I think he may just have to wait till the roads get a bit better!

So this morning I am doing my blog post and making myself feel better by enjoying this gorgeous piece of art by Anna using the Scraps Of Elegance 'Renea's Charm' kit

I love all the textures and background work!

and that photo is so adorable!

Thanks for stopping by!

My last three wonderful wintery and glittery Northern Lights layouts!

Good morning everyone!

Today I am sharing my last 3 projects from the Scraps Of Darkness
'Northern Lights' kit

'I love Snow'

I love the look of determination on Tylers face- he was really enjoying himself making the snowdragon! (a snowman is not as much fun lol)

I cut the 'I Love Snow' from the patterned paper, used a dabber on the snowflakes
and flowers!

this is one of the clusters

I love the little metal snowflakes!

'Crisp and Cold'

This is the boys with the finished 'snowdragon'

I used gesso, mist and ink on the chipboard mittens from Blue Fern Studios!

'Winter Wonderland'

Sometimes summer toys can be as much in the winter!
Ty was having so much fun sliding down the slide into the snow (even though he had slightly outgrown the slide)

I used the flowers from the floral add on, some I bought from the SOD store and a couple from my stash

I scattered the Bo Bunny pearls randomly and also on the snowflakes

The buttons from the embellishment add on were so cute!

Rena's projects abound with romance, beauty, techniques and even a Diva moment!

Good morning - It's hump day!
We are half way through the week!

Today I am going to share three stunning projects Renea!

And I do mean stunning

'Diva Moment'

During a recent photo shoot Renea's God daughter got tired of having her photo taken, and so she face planted into her blankie and had herself a "Diva Moment"-LOL!

She layered a piece of the kit paper over a floral piece of the kit paper, and then did some tearing and paper curling to expose the print. She used a brick stencil and some Ranger Texture Paste to add lots of texture and visual interest, then used some matching paper to form the photo matte, distressing and paper curling it before adding on that precious photo.

At the top corner, she took the FabScraps Chipboard frame from the kit and distress painted it white then took a Prima Resin Heart and added one of the pieces from the Embellishment Add On "Dreams" inside the frame. She added on some past kit flowers, cheesecloth and one of the little wicker hearts from the kit.

She formed a large flower layer at the bottom corner of the photo by adding flowers from the kit, Floral Add on, and lots of past kit flowers along with stash foliage, floral stems and cheesecloth. I then took a Resin Cameo Frame and added a "Precious" piece from the E.A.O.

In the large tear at the bottom, she added one of the paper gates from the kit and topped it with another wicker heart from the kit and some past kit flowers.

'Love Letters'

She started with a paper mache Book Box and coated it with Gesso. She then layered on papers from the kit, some Lace, paper Doilies, some of the tissue paper from the kit and then clipped a Vintage Image to it with a past kit piece. I distressed and inked the pieces with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink to get that aged look.

Next I added on a Brooch, a flower from this month's Floral Add On along with some past kit flowers and leaves, and then created a bow out of the alphabet trim in the Embellishment Add On and tucked it in.

She added on the little Prima metal mail box with letters on it from the Embellishment Add On and more flowers beside it and at the top of my photo corner. added some letters, and then popped on a set of Salted Caramel Butterflies.

For the back of the book, I inked in layers of Tim Holtz Tattered Rose and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Inks.
Tore pieces of the tissue paper from the kit and Mod Podged them on, inking over them with the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I then painted randomly with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle, let it air dry then inked over it with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distess Ink.

For the "Binding" side of the book, She covered it with some more of the tissue paper sheet from the kit, and inked over it.
She created "pages" using Ranger Texture Paste,  then sprayed with Tim Holtz Tarnished Brass Spray Stain, painted over with Gesso, and then inked with the Vintage Photo Stain to get the look of worn pages. The book is held closed with a ribbon and velcro closure system.

She finished the book out inside with papers from the kit and inks.

'Extra Special Times'

She did lots of tearing, distressing, paper rolling, and layering of the kit papers to get that edgy look. She then stipple painted and did some gesso drops that I coated in MicroBeads and Glitter Glass. The chipboard latice, I tucked under the corner tears is from a past kit.

She used one of the Fabscraps Gates, and the Prima Resin Fountain to add dimension and give the layout an outside garden look.

She laced the wooden hearts from the kit into the pattern on the paper using the textured trim that was also in the kit, and added a piece that she fussy cut from the Fabscraps pieces in the kit for the title "Extra Special Times".

The burlap flowers were from the kit and the smaller flowers were all from past kits.
You can see all the layering and painting texture and dimension at this angle.

More flowers, hearts, layering and texture.

A close up shot of the lacing and paper rolling that she did to add in lots of dimension and texture.

Scraps of Darkness: A new kit and a new designer!

Good morning!  I know many of you are experiencing (or are supposed to, as of when I'm writing this), a major winter storm.  I'd just like to say that I hope everyone is safe, indoors, and warm today.

We have a new kit today, and some exciting news to share...

As we announced with our January Scraps of Elegance kit, "Renea's Charm", we've started something new in 2015 - We have an AMAZING Design Team - not only are these ladies talented, they are dedicated, great friends, and a joy to work with, so I wanted to do a little something to honor them.  In 2015, each of our designers will have a kit named after them.
So our first Scraps of Darkness kit in 2015:  Karen's Valentine

Yes, it's Valentine's Day, Scraps of Darkness style!  A love themed kit with an edge, we've included BoBunny's Star-Crossed collection, Carta Bella's Words of Love collection, some lovely Black Modeling Pate, Blue Fern Chipboard, and so much more!  Stop by our store and get yours before they sell out - and while you're there, check out this month's kit add ons!

And we move from a new kit... to a new Designer!
We are thrilled to announce that Tracey Gregory has joined our Scraps of Darkness Design Team!

Hello! My name is Tracey Gregory and I live in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts with the love of my life, my husband Gary. I have been blessed to be the mother of four children: Hayden (23), Austin (21), Lukas (16) and the "baby" girl, Naomi (14). I am also a proud auntie to my adorable niece, Vivien.
When I'm not creating, or at my daughter's Drama/Voice events, you'll find me serving in my church in the nursery, Sunday School, directing the Worship arts team or doing mission work. To support my scrapping habit I work as a Quality Assurance/Staff Educator RN for  Hospice of Western Massachusetts.
I am definitely a shabby chic style scrapper. I love all things vintage, tattered and worn. I like to play with Mixed Media and off the page projects as well. My family is the focus of much of my scrapping. I have been fortunate to have been published in both online and print magazines. I've served on multiple Design Teams and currently design for Leaky Shed Studio. I'd love for you to stop by my
blog for a visit.
I am so excited to be a part of the Scraps of Darkness Team and for the opportunity to create along side the talented DT!  I look forward to getting to know everyone better!

Please be sure to stop by Tracey's blog, and while you are there, sign up as a follower, so you don't miss any of her beautiful work!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and please stay safe today!

Guest Designers!

Not 1, not 2, but 3 - yes, we have three amazing guest designers to announce today!

The first fabulously talented lady we are announcing will be designing with our upcoming February Scraps of Elegance kit:

 Melenia Agapides

"My name is Melenia Agapides!  I live in an island of Greece and am mother of 2 kids, as well as an Airport Authority Officer at our local airport.  I started scrapbooking in 2009, but I got more involved in 2011. I'm a layout designer and I love working with masks, inks, pastes, mists.  I think my style is still evolving, so I can't put a name on it, but my pages contain clusters with different kind of embellies, which I "glue together" with paints, mists and inks. y works have been featured in several blogs. have won challenges (the Supreme Scrap Tournament among them) and have been published in magazines.
I'm very honoured to be a guest Designer at the Scraps of Elegance Kit Club and I thank Melinda & Lisa for trusting me with the wonderful February kit!"

Please be sure to visit and follow Melenia's Blog - you won't want to miss any of her gorgeous work!

Next up, another wonderfully talented designer will be designing with our December Scraps of Darkness "Northern Lights" kit.  Yes, this was last month's kit, but she just received it this week! (packages to her region aren't being delivered with the utmost speed at the moment).  Anyway, even though it's last month's kit, we didn't want you to miss the gorgeous things she's making with it!

Natalia Shalygina (aka Frau_Muller)

My name is Nataliya, however in the scrap world I use my nickname Frau_Muller.
I am 29 years old and live with my family in the Ukraine. I'm the head of trade in a marketing department and the happy mother of little "superman"
I've been scrapbooking for 3 years and try to make different projects every day! During this time I've fallen in love with different styles and materials & I'm absolutely passionate with both Mixed-Media and Vintage styles.
For me, scrapbooking is art therapy & often inspiration comes from either my little son and/or music.

And here's the link to Natalia's blog, I know you'll want to follow her and not miss even one of her projects!

And last, but certainly not least, we've got this beautiful and talented lady guest designing - she will be designing with our upcoming January Scraps of Darkness kit:

Wilma Voermans

Hello, my name is Wilma Voermans, born in Amsterdam, but I live in the Swiss alps for many years now. I love scrapbooking, but I dont make very bulky layouts anymore, because of the storageproblem. Mixed media is a must on my pages. My new addiction is Project Life, I can be creative with a goal this way. Mixed media cards, scrapbooklayouts and art journalpages, it all dissapears in my Project life albums.

Please stop by Wilma's Blog and sign up to follow - you won't want to miss a single project she does!

I can't wait to see all the amazing projects coming our way - and I hope you enjoy them as much as I know I will!

Oh, and I hope you all have a beautiful and creative weekend!
