Summer time just screams for fun layouts at the beach!! In keeping with the tradition, Scraps of Darkness' June Kit "Seaside" is perfect for all those wonderful times at the coast. Even though Alaska has more coastline than the "Lower 48" in geographical miles, it is not sandy, nor warm. All of the beaches are silty from the glacier fun off and very rocky, not to mention COLD water. So, if you want to go swimming you can take a dip in one of our many local lakes, but they are not necessarily warm either LOL! My layout this week is a series of pictures of my Grandson's at South Rolly Lake just north of Anchorage. They had such a good time that day.
For the background paper I chose a whimsical paper from 49th and Market included in the Main Kit. I used Gabi's Line Stitch stamp from 49th and Market at the top, and across the middle. This stamp came in a previous kit and is so versatile.
I found a new LOVE...the Art Alchemy Impasto Paint included in the Creativity Add On works so perfectly for stenciling. You can see where I used it on the background. Try it, you will not be sorry with your results.
I added some fun bubble die cuts using a Memory Box die, which I think worked great for the layout. You can also see the Prills I used all over the layout which comes in the Creativity Add On. You can also see the bubble sticker embellishments from 49th and Market that comes in the Elements Add On.
Next I used a wonky arrow circle chipboard from Creative Embellishments from my stash. I used the Art Alchemy Coral Reef paint from the Color Add On. What a fun, perfect color.
Underneath the chipboard at the bottom I tucked in some cheesecloth that I sprayed with Prima's Bloom "Peony". It matches the color on the chipboard exactly. Then I went wild with glass glitter, Prills and more 49th and Market bubbles. What fun!!!!!
I created a couple flower clusters using 49th and Market blooms from the Floral and Creativity Add Ons. Just adore those flowers. Course I topped them off with more Prills.
In the middle of the circle to the left I added that adorable seahorse, from the same 49th and Market embellishment series. You can see the cute little jellyfish I used in the right flower cluster.
Now to share with you my 3rd layout using the Scraps of Darkness June Kit "Seaside". This layout features my Grandson, Chase enjoying the beauty of Alaska. We are so blessed to live in this gorgeous State.
"Seaside" contains a collection of Kaisercraft "High Tide" and 49th & Market "Sand and Sea". Love both of these collections. I used the Kaisercraft collection for this layout. Just love the nautical theme, and neutral colors.
I used the Kaisercraft paper included in the Patterned Paper Add On for my background. On the left side is a stripe border which I cut from another paper in the same Add On. At the top is border sticker which comes in the Main Kit. The layers were created using other papers in the same collection. Burlap was used to mat the photo.
To add texture, I used the Impasto Paint from the Creativity Add On through a stencil. Love this new product from Art Alchemy.
I wanted to create a fun collage of flowers and pelican on the left bottom side of the lo. I applied some cheesecloth in this area. Then, I fussy cut the pelican and pilings from the 49th and Market paper included in the Patterned Paper Add On.
I added lots of different elements into the collage that are included in the Elements, Creativity, and Floral Add Ons. I think the 3-D seaweed embellishment from the Elements Add On from 49th and Market pulls the lo together.
I used the Prima off white flowers from the Floral Add On at the top of the title as well.
I used the Blue Fern Studio Anchor chipboard at the bottom of the photo, which I embossed with their Antique Gold embossing powder from a previous kit. I also added Art Stones and gold gems from previous kits to give more texture.
At the bottom right side of the layout I created another little collage using the same elements as the left side.
Hope you enjoyed my layouts and will visit again. Kits are available here. Thanks for looking and hope you have a wonderful day!!!
Kathy
