It's me again (Kathy) with my final layout using the Scraps of Darkness April kit "Blue Skies & Sunshine".
This layout features my oldest grandson Chase, in his 2nd Grade school picture. I think he is such a cutie.
For those of you who don't know me, I am a really slow scrapper. I have to take time to think through my layouts and how I want themto turn out. For me, it's the process of creating that I enjoy the most. By the time I am halfway finished with a layout, I have already created it,
and want to move on to the next layout lol!!! This month is always a very busy one for me, with my birthday and Mother's Day, I have 2 weekends takenup spending time with my family, and not much scrapping.....I hope you enjoy my sharing with you how I created this layout.
I
used 3 different papers for the foundation, 2 from Kaisercraft and 1
from Bo Bunny from the Main Kit. I applied a little watered down gesso
around where I wanted my photo and embellishments to be. I also
splattered some black ink to add a little dimension. I used the Gabi stamp that came in last month's kit and stamped around the border of the
page. Not sure if you notice, but most of the edges of the papers and
photo have rounded edges to coordinate with the chipboard.
I
layered the mats (black and blue) under the photo. Some of the
sentiment phrases were on the sticker sheet included in the Main Kit,
and other were die cuts, and some I even fussy cut from on the papers
with sentiment phrases. (Elements and Main Kit)
I
used the Blue Fern Studios interlocking squares chipboard from my
stash. I simply used Ranger's Archival Ink to blend with the layout.
I had planned on adding some micro beads, but decided to leave them
plain.
The
denim stars and brass buttons in the middle came in last month's kit as
well. I also added some little gems from a previous kit to add more
dimension in several places around the layout. I also used the Tim
Holtz clips that were included in Main Kit on the main phrase next to
the photo.
And, finally I used a selvage edge of one of the papers on each of the diagonal corners with several inspiring sentiments.
That's
it for me. Please stop by again to see all the fabulous works of art
created by our super talented Design Time. Till next time......

Hello Friends...
I'm back again with another project from the Scraps of Darkness' Blue Skies & Sunshine Kit.
I decided to make a set of tags. I fell in love with those scrabble tiles and couldn't want to use them.
Here are the tags.
Here below you can see a few different angles.
I loved adding cheesecloth and that yellow doily.
A butterfly along with the glitter glass.
Another few angles and a few flowers.
I painted the Blue Fern chipboard. It was so pretty.
I went crazy with the splatters... I did white, yellow, and black.
Wasn't that neat, the metal piece.
Today I'm bringing another yummy page created with the Blue Skies and Sunshine from Scraps of Darkness. Here is my layout... from my brother's wedding. I love this photo.
I feel like all these awesome sentiments are so appropriate..
The blue fern chippies are fabulous.
Here you can see some prills and some glitter glass
She's forever in my heart... I can totally hear him thinking this.
I feel the sentiments in this kit really resonated with the day.
I had fun using the black paint. Can you tell?
Love the butterfly. I also used some stencils from my stash.
This last sentiment says it all..... This is What Happy Looks Like.

Here's my 4th project with my Scraps of Darkness' Blue Skies & Sunshine Kit - it just is perfect when working with these wedding photos.
I really loved this picture of my brother with his daughter... don't you? I think I'll call this layout ... Strength..
I loved her silver sequined dress...
Here are a few close ups of my layout.... I love clocks so I was so happy to see a couple of clocks ready to be used. You can also see a little punchwork I did on the side.
In this close up of the flowers... you can see where I did a little paint splatter and a little pink rose for her.
Here just above the flowers you can see a little silver trim. really wanted to bring out her dress.
Had to make sure I got the buds in here.... wanted my layout to reflect soft and romantic..
Here you can see some paint effects...
Here you can see my latest chipboard alterations. I used the gun metal grey embossing powder for the chipboard.
Here you can see the row of flowers and the silver peeking out from behind.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you are finding time to scrap.

Here you can see how I started the background. I mixed some blue paint in with some modeling paste and then stenciled it on.
