Hello Dear Friends!!
Kathy here to share with you another layout using the
Scraps of Darkness February Kit, "Our Story"
I really enjoy using more than one photo on a layout, it tells more of a story when you do. The layout features photos of my daughter, JennyBelle and our sweet cat Ballew. The day that the photos were taken we were taking him to the vet for his last day with us. He was so sick with feline leukemia. You can tell by the photos what a loving and sweet little guy he was, and so loved by everyone.
For this layout I used the Prima Love Clippings paper collection from the Main Kit. Behind the top centered background paper I punched a heart border, tucked in copper and die cut doilies, added flowers and pieces of ephemera that comes in this month's Scraps of Elegance kit.
Behind all the photos I cut the doilies from the Prima 6x6 Collection kit included in the Creativity Add On. The copper foil hearts along the top and bottom are transfers from Bo Bunny that you can find in the Elements Add On.
The large heart flourish chipboard under the photos came in a previous kit. I used the Blue Fern Studios "Garnet" embossing powder you get in the Creativity Add On. I sprinkled a second layer of Lindy's Stamp Gang's "Cleopatra Copper" to blend with the layout. In the center of the heart is a sticker that is included in the Prima 6x6 Collection pad. The little heart chipboard on each of the sides came from my stash. I used the My Art C antique copper metallic paint you can find in the Color Add On.
I created little flower clusters all over the layout using flowers from the Floral Add On and others from previous kits.
I hope you enjoyed the love story that I created of our little kitty.
Here is my next layout using the Scraps of Darkness February kit "Our Story" featuring my son, Patrick, and his little nephew, Cameron (when he was a baby). I just love the image of a big guy holding this little baby...too cute. Cameron loves Pat so much, now that they can actually play together. I wanted this layout to be a combination of layers and some mixed media, with some masculine baby softness. Kinda hard to accomplish....
I started with a Blue Fern Studio paper for the background and used several different Lindy's, Blue Fern Studios, and Dylusions sprays to get the background to look the way I wanted it. I counted 7 different colors in the grey and turquoise family with some black and white paint splatters. I also stamped around the layout with 2 different stamps with a grid and dot design to add dimension. I used a grid patterned 7 Dots stencil with modeling paste for texture.
I built a base for the photos with several layers using the Prima "Love Clippings" notecards from the Main Kit and 6x6 paper pad included in the Creativity Add On.
Once I got the base layers and photos glued down I started adding my embellishments. All the flowers either came in the Floral Add On or from previous Scraps of Darkness kits. I also added little pieces of white chipboard from my stash to give the layout a soft airy look, which I think is perfect for little babies. I used some die cuts which are included in this month's Scraps of Elegance kit.
The XOXO chipboard is included in the Main Kit, which I inked with black Archival Ink from Ranger. And to add the finishing touch, I used several Tim Holtz rub-ons from a previous kit. I really enjoy using rub-ons to add a little interest on a layout now. I especially love the little birds on a branch at the top right of the layout.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my details about my layouts!!! Till next time, please consider joining the Scraps of Darkness kit club. Melinda Kelly does such an amazing job putting these kits together with so many fun, beautiful embellishments to go along with the latest, and greatest paper collections.
Have a lovely week!!
