AMAZING Double Art Journal Page Tutorial

Good morning.  We've got something awesome to share today.

Stéphanie created a gorgeous double art journal page spread with our Lisa's Sweet September Kit:

She did alot of layered image transfer on these pages, and it turned out just amazing.  She's also done a photo tutorial, explaining each step she did in creating these pages.  Here's what Stéphanie wrote:

"This double page is an illustration of the technique of "Image Transfer". I love this technique and I already knew it but I was using it before with simple gel medium. Here I found another product that I tried,  the special "Image Transfer" from Pébéo. Operation is almost easier and especially the result is quite different. With this product, I have to get in the end my whole image, I can not tear a piece image for a style "draft" "Old torn picture or image." The interest with  this product is that when we superimposes the images, we see them all through the transparency. It's pretty fascinating. Here, then, I had fun working on the "COLLAGE", image overlay and printed texts to create a COLLAGE.

Below are some detail shots, and right after, my tutorial to illustrate this double page:

 

 

 

PHOTO TUTORIAL:

To begin, I chose a paper from the Blue Fern Studio Autumn Anthology collection, 'Balcony' from the main kit, to cover my double page. I use  the printed designs for my background: 

 

Then I glued various paper cuts with other printed writings and some small pieces of masking tape. This allowed me to hide the floral designs that were on the paper, I didn't want them on these pages. 

The  printed papers are just the base and I try to get a very light background, which approximates a white sheet of paper with some visible detail. So I covered my double page with gesso with a rigid card (completely randomly).

 

I cut out a design from the 'Cottage' paper (also from the Main Kit) and I'm preparing to transfer its image on my double page.

 

I apply three layers of 'Image Transfer' product from  Pébéo. The product is a clear varnish, it respects the colors; the application of 3 coats of varnish creates an completely ultrathin  transparent film; it is on this film that the pattern will appear after removing the paper.

 

 After applying 3 layers of varnish, I apply a new layer , do not dry. I apply the design where I want to see that it appears. I transfer it by pressing, and with the help of a wet sponge  I rub on the paper to remove material until the design appears.

It is not essential, but I prefer to apply a layer of gel medium to fix the design on the paper.

 I  create a collage with various designs using the same technique. I cut out on my papers designs that I selected.

 

 I continue in the same way: I applied three coats of varnish on a design, and a fourth layer which is used to stick the design on the base:

 

 It's quite fascinating to see when the second design is superimposed on the first. We see the first design under the second thanks to the  transparency. It is as if we had used two stamps. The interest is obviously to use designs that we spotted in  pages, books or any other document, respecting exactly the colors of the original design.

 

And I continue on the same way:

 

Here I use a 'Butterfly' picture that I found on Pinterest, this motif was interesting, the color served to bring contrast for my work and I would use it later in other ways. Always with the Pébéo varnishes, I transfer the "Butterfly" picture and then i took a piece of text on the "Cottage"sheet . You should know that with the image transfer technique, the transfer of the 'written' image is  backwards! But personally for this kind of work, I have not wanted to be able to read these words that were to appear on my page.

 

Then I was inspired by a design on the 'Creme de la Creme' sheet  from  the Graphic 45 Gilded Lily collection (also in the Main Kit): the lily. I  isolated two lilies of this page. I deliberately tore the design so that i only see the lilies in part. I make a transfer of a lily on the right page to complete my COLLAGE, and I make a second Image transfer on the left page to start working on this side.

 

I was really inspired by this design, as it also served as a basis to draw a new lily  with a wooden pencil on the left page.
        I used then the stencil included in the kit of this month, 'Moroccan Tile & Vine' from  Rebecca Baer, with the chalk ink from Ingvild Bolme, also included in the main kit. I use it on the both side.

 

I start by adding color sparingly. I use a blue gelato on a Prima clear stamp, the design appears slightly deformed exactly as i want.

 

Before the paint dries, I slightly blurred some designs with a  water brush. Some patterns are 'embedded' in water.

 With "text", "numbers" stamps, I apply some impressions here and there. I also use masking tape to bring other designs.

To highlight this double-page, I decided to ink  randomly the edges of my very  pages, with a DISTRESS ink from Ranger or I vary the colors with brown tones  from Lindy's Stamp Gang:

 

Finally, I use a 3D stencil with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.

Mini Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial - Tanya's Industrial Odyssey kit

Today we're sharing a mini canvas tutorial.  Amy Prior created this fabulous canvas with our Tanya's Industrial Odyssey kit and add ons.  In her video, she will show you how to do image transfer, and she also uses the Rebecca Baer Honeycomb stencil and Brett Weldele Steampunk Selfie stamps that were in the add ons.

Lisa's Sweet September kit layout tutorial

Good morning, and Happy Saturday!

Today we're sharing a great tutorial from Tiffany for this gorgeous layout:

October's Elegance kit is here!

Good mornng, not only is it Friday, it's kit reveal day!

 This month, our kit is named after our wonderful educator, Tiffany Solorio!  We've go so many new goodies from Prima in this kit, and they are all gorgeous! We started out with the Royal Menagerie collection (and added some beautiful papers from Fabscraps' Serenity and Kaisercraft's Oh So Lovely collections, as well), we've got all 6 of the papers in the kit, as well as matching flowers, and a great texture stamp.  We added those beautiful new shiny gold decorative paper clips from Prima, and also their new IOD Paintables Parisian Tags.  Had to have some bling (as if all that bling on the flowers wasn't enough!), so we've got self adhesive pearls from Artemio in a variety of colors, Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder, Renea's butterflies, of course, an 8x8 bracket shaped MDF surface, and a few other fun things, as well.

But that's not all, we have Add Ons!  We know you can never have enough scrappy "stuff", and it's even better when it all coordinates, so we offer add ons for those of you who want 'more'...

Patterned Paper (these are just an extra sheet of the papers you will find in the main kit - so you can use both sides!):

Thursday Inspiration

Good morning everyone!

I wanted to share some gorgeous projects today that I am sure will inspire you to get out your supplies and scrap something awesome!

First up is Renea with a gorgeous journal and ATC

This piece is filled with unique spots to house journaling, small photos and mementos. There is even a removable  glass vile of  glitter glass.

She started with a handcrafted pocket journal base, and then cut and distressed a layer of the kit paper. She fussy cut "If The Crown Fits" piece, and then over layered with some lace,  then fussy cut out the Marie Antoinette and  Lois XVI of France image and layered it on top of the lace with foam tape. 

She created a floral layer with a blush chiffon flower, one of the peach Petaloo flowers from this month's Floral Add On, and a past kit rose.  

She painted a couple of the little Blue Fern Crown Pieces  with crackle texture paste and tucked them in. 

She fussy cut a "Let Them Eat Cake piece from the paper and added a brass spoon trinket onto it. The Champagne Dreams Butterflies are some of her handcrafted butterflies.

She took a corked glass vile and filled it with some glitter glass and used the peach twine from the kit to tie on one of the G45 Chipboard pieces from the Elements Add On. 

 

She created a pocket from the G45 Pocket & Tags in the kit and added the "Keep Calm" piece on with foam tape. The whole piece velcros onto the base so that it can be removed.

There is a "Let Them Eat Cake" piece tucked inside the pocket. 

Here is the system with the pieces untucked. There are:

2 oversized, double sided tags with lace, hand dyed seam binding bows and pearl and gold buttons.

2 smaller pieces that open up for journling and small photos.

A large tag with a hand dyed seam binding bow topped with a Timeless Button

 2 Julie Nutting Armoire Pieces(from the kit) that she decorated with Prima resin pieces and pearls

She then cut the doors so that they open up with some of the Graphic 45 Quote Paper Pieces mounted into them. The Armoires tie closed with some of the kit twine. 

 This is the back view of the Armoires.

And this is the back view of the entire pieces that has been finished out for a complete, designer look. 

Up next is a little 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 ATC that she put together in the same theme as the Pocket Journal.

She created a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 ATC from chipboard and then layered both sides with the kit paper that was left over from the background paper on the pocket journal. She fussy cut the small images from some of the kit paper. 

She added one of those sweet peach flowers from the Floral Add On along with a past kit mini rose and some stash leaves. 

She used some leftover seam binding from the pocket journal to create a bow, and topped it with a little tea cup, and then cut out the "Let Them Eat Cake" Quote from the same paper and popped it on with some foam tape.

And finally I am going to share a beautiful layout from Tracey G. using the September Scraps Of Darkness kit 'Tanya's Industrial Odyssey'

She created many layers, with both the papers and the elements beautifully.
