Prima Oil Pastels Tutorial: Mixed Media Portrait

Just a few more hours until the weekend starts, and we've got some great inspiration for you today...

Stéphanie has done a wonderful new video tutorial, she is working with the Prima Oil Pastels that were included in our April Scraps of Elegance Creativity Add On:

I am today back with a new project, and for me, a new experience! Here is the result of my work done with the April kit, 'WONDERFUL', from SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE . Here, for my second tutorial with this kit, I used the PRIMA MARKETING oil pastels that were included in the Creativity add-on. First of all , i must say, it was a long time I had heard of this kind of product, Rather I was already very very interested in this product, purpose up to a few days I had never used oil pastels ... So I was glad to discover the product in the April kit! a real challenge for me! This was a new opportunity to push my limits, a challenge ... well, I do not really know if the result is Satisfactory, I do not-have enough experience, and am not objective at all! I hope you tell me what you think of this first exercise!

I would just say finally this exercise was rather interesting , and I would like to experience again soon and I think fairly quickly.  The ideas are already there!

2 Kits in 1 Post

Because our kits were a teensy bit late this month (and by teensy bit, I mean way late, lol), I thought I'd share them both in the same post, so it's a double dose of kits, today!

Our May SOE kit is full of such Spring goodness:

 All 10 of the papers are from BoBunny's Soiree collection, and then there are those beautiful Prima French Riviera flowers, a CW Stencil, some modeling paste to use with it, Blue Fern Chipboard keys, and a few other goodies...

We still have a few of these kits left, as well as some of the add ons, so if you'd like to pick one up, and/or check out the available add ons, just pop in to the Scraps of Elegance Kits section of our store. 

And then there's the Darkness kit for May, and what can I say about this one except it's got the most GORGEOUS Blue Fern papers in it - all 10 of the new Tranquility collection papers:

The main kit is sold out, but you can still get the papers with the Patterned Paper Add On, and you can always find our current kit in the Scraps of Darkness Kits section of our store.

Cards & Tags.....

Good morning!

The versatility of our kits....you can create, layouts, journal pages, tags, cards and so much more.....

Anna created a couple of fabulous tags with wonderful imagery using the Scraps Of Elegance 'Wonderful' kit

Nicole created a beautiful set of cards....

Both cards use the BoBunny Secret Garden papers as well as brads and buttons from that same collection, all featured in the kit.

Art Journals.....

Good morning.....

I love the freedom of Art journals.....they are a creative expression!

We have three amazing and different art journals to share today....

Each one is unique and reflective of their creator...

This first fabulous one is from Wilma, using our April Scraps of Darkness 'Travel Stories' kit:

All the paper for the background and title came out of the kit.

As well as the colorsprays and Finnabair Art Alchemy paint.

 The next one is really wonderful and created by Lisa Griffith using our April Scraps Of Elegance 'Wonderful' kit:

She started with a beautiful old book that she found at an estate sale, an ancient copy of 'Black Beauty', that was so worn and tattered and with thick creamy pages, just perfect for altering. She covered the spread with a very thick coat of clear gesso, so that her inks wouldn't seep in, and then some heavy white gesso to lighten up the pages. She then took some of the Graphic 45 Ephemera Cards from the kit and tore up some pieces and glued them down and added some strips of washi tape here and there, then splashed some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.

As a final touch she added some of these little black alpha beads from a previous kit to add some interesting contrast.

The final beautiful art journal was created by Denisa, using our April Scraps Of Darkness 'Travel Stories' kit:

As a starting point she used the Graphic 45 Cityscapes Collection Crossroads paper. She wanted to mute it down a bit so she applied a thin coat of white gesso.

Next she created some texture by gluing down paper strips and applying opaque modeling paste over a stencil. She did some random stamping using the gorgeous stamps (Botanical and Script by Kaisercraft) from the main kit and Element add ons.

  She also treated her art journal with the amazing Finnabair´s Art Alchemy Acrylics Metallique Fresh Orange and Steampunk Copper from the Color add on. Then she played with Lindy's Stamp Gang Sassy Sapphire spray, which is also included in the main kit. Paper elements come from Kaisercraft Story Book Collectables that were in the Elements Add On. The focal point is Tim Holtz´s Idea-ology metal quote.

Mixed Media Monday - May 16

Good Morning!

Today to inspire your mixed media creations I have 3 amazing projects to share!

The first stunning layout is from Wilma using the 

Scraps Of Darkness 'Travel Stories' kit

 

She wanted to use the B-side from the Kaisercraft paper, but

  when she glued it onto cardboard, it wasn't the look she wanted...

When she attempted to remove it, just the top layer came off.

The paper wasn't good anymore as a background, but it was thin like tissue, so she could use it behind her picture, tucked in...and

she still had that print she liked so much.

Wilma used a chipboard piece from a previous SOE kit and cut it up to suit her layout....

The next beautiful mixed media layout is from Anna using the 

Scraps Of Elegance April 'Wonderful' kit

  She used that beautiful BoBunny ‘Secret Garden’ paper, from the main kit, as the background paper.

  

Annie has created this stunning mixed media layout, also using the Wonderful kit:

 

  She chose the BoBunny Vineyard paper from the Coordinating Paper Add On, then applied white gesso.  She then used a mask with Heavy Gesso and applied different colors with H2O from her stash.  She used the Hot off the Press "Bird Cage" stamp included in the kit, and cut some papers from the kit and stickers, and put them behind her photo.  She embossed the BoBunny chipboard with Lindy's Stamp Gang "Cosmic Blue Violet" Embossing powder from the main kit, then added some flowers (Blue Fern Studios Courtship Roses and Prima Relics and Artifacts Blushing Bouquet) and embellishments!

More travel layouts from Tatiana

Good morning!

I have two stunning travel layouts to share from Tatiana using the Scraps Of Darkness 

'Travel Stories' kit

For this layout she decided to use photo with the main Koln's symbol - Catholic cathedral and chose a neutral color scheme and added bright red accents.

She cut some flowers from January kit patterned paper. Added a lot of background stamping and embossing. Used Lindy's Stamp Gang mist from the kit and other mist from her stash, tiny accents with liquid pearls (from February kit) and liquid dots and drops and used embellishments from the Elements Add On.

 For her next layout Tatiana takes you to Armenia.

Chipboard is covered with embossing powder and for her background she used Lindy's mist from the kit and Peach Kaisermist. She used a lot of background stamping with stamp from the kit and Elements add on and stamps from her stash.

Resin rose and liquid pearls are from February kit.
