Prima Art Doll Tag

Good morning, we are half-way through the week, and we have a beautiful new project to share today.

Monica created this sweet art-doll tag with a few of the products we carry in our store:

Hello crafty friends,
I'm back with a tag I made for the Scraps of Darkness Doll Tag Swap, which was held in our Facebook Community (we have swaps every month!).  I loved using my Julie Nutting Mixed Media Doll Stamp -Mindy.  This beauty is going to Sarah R in Canada.

I actually used two tags and cut them to make one oversized tag. I edged the tag with some paint and then layered on some papers and die cuts. I used a few embellishments in the flower, wood shape and fancy leaf.

You'll be able to find the products that I labeled in the Scraps of Darkness Store.

Here's the my cutie pie Mindy tag:
I started off stamping my doll stamp with some archival ink and put on the wonderful paper from Blue Fern Studios Serendipity line - Contemplation. 



 and here are some close ups starting with the gorgeous Prima flowers which can be found here. They are called Prima Flowers - Slate:

Here you can see the background paper I used from Blue Fern Studio Serendipity Line -Reminisce paper. As you can see I went around the edges with the Prima Art Alchemy Green-Gold Paint.

I used some Prima dies to pop out of the top and bottom under the paper.

Here you can see the BoBunny Kraft Wood Shapes.  I chose to leave it in its natural state.

Here you can see the purple liquid pearls and Waterfall stickles I used on her dress. I also used some pink stickles on her headband.

Here you can see I used some Waterfall Stickles and some bling from my stash to dress up her shoes.

Along the edges of the tag I used Nuvo Crystal Drops- Metallic Bright Gold and  Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint:  Opal Magic Green Gold

Mixed Media Monday....

Good morning!

I love our mixed media Monday posts....

This stunning layout was created by Denisa using the Travel Stories kit

She loves Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist Sassy Saphire included in the kit. She also did lots of layering using Graphic 45 Cityscapes Collection Tags and Pockets, Ephemera Cards and Kaisercraft Story Book Collection Collectables Die Cuts. For her background she used her fave fragment stamping using stunning stamp from the kit Kaisercraft Clear Stamp Botanical and Script from the element add ons.

As the focal point she used a vintage pic from the previous Heirloom Kit. The chippie butterfly also comes from it.

the next gorgeous layout was created by Lisa Griffith using the 

'Wonderful' kit 

She used several pieces from this 'Secret Garden' collection from the kit and tore large pieces of the different papers and created some layers then used some white gesso over everything and then added some stamping and lots of Prima flowers.

The 'Creativity Add On' this month that had the beautiful Prima oil pastels together with some Prima watercolor brush pens. Gorgeous bright juicy colors and very easy to use. Here she rubbed the oil pastels in purple pink and blue in different areas and then went over them with the watercolor brush to spread the color around a little. You can also rub them in a small paint palette and add water to create a lighter watercolor wash.

 

 

She created a little banner for the top of the page using the 'BoBunny' 'Secret Garden' collection buttons that she thread onto some string, and also used some of the 'BoBunny' 'Secret Garden' collection brads that both came in the 'Element's Add On'.

Weekend Inspiration: Art Doll ATC's by Lisa

Aren't they fantastic and fun?! Lisa created these miniature works of art with products from our store.  Here's what she says about them:

Today I am sharing a design team project for the Scraps of Darkness Online Store. Did you know in addition to our monthly kit club you can shop for all your artful treasures in our store? You don't have to be a kit club member to do this- all are welcome! You can find our kits here in the store.

AS IF that isn't enough we have a wonderful community on Facebook you can find here. I mention the community because we have an ATC swap hosted on a regular basis. I chose to do some ATC's for my design team project this month and these little beauties are for my partner Sarah Routledge. (Hope she likes them!)

I love art dolls. They are so fun to work with. I have a ton of files of all different dolls and I mix them up creating a full body out of all different parts. It is so fun! ( ooops I already said that!)

I used the beautiful Blue Fern Studios Chelsea Vines chipboard found in our store here.

I painted them in Silks Stargazer found in the store here and then I embossed them in Stampendous Encrusted Jewels Gold found here. In addition to embossing in the gold I sprinkled on Spruce Willis Prills found here and then embossed. I love the effect it created on the leaves.

I also embossed the Vintaj Arte Metal Buckle Decorivets found here. I used them as glasses on this doll but they are a buckle of sorts. I used these on each doll. You can see the effects on the leaves and the metal in my close up. I also machine stitched around all my ATC's. 

I used the Blue Fern Chelsea Vines again and this time painted it in Silks Nutmeg found here. I also embossed the buckle again in the Gold Encrusted Jewels and Prills.  The buckle is also the Vintaj Arte Metal.

Can you see the texture on the buckle? So cool!

On this last ATC and I think this one is my favorite... I again used the Blue Fern Chelsea Vines and painted it in Silks Wisteria. We don't have any Silks left in this color but there is a beautiful Raspberry Wine that would work.

Once again I embossed the buckle. I also used Prima Art Ingredients Glass Glitter in Violet found here to add sparkle to this ATC. To finish off my ATC's I did some random stamping in the background, splattering and hemp cord. These are items I acquired through past Scraps of Darkness/ Elegance kits!

Hope you guys like my ATC's and are inspired to make some of your own!

Tatiana takes us on a journey!

Good morning!

Today I am sharing a layout that Tatiana created using the Scraps Of Darkness kit 'Travel Stories' from her trip to Budapest!

 

She used two papers from Kaisercraft Story Book collection for her background. She covered one side of light paper with distress ink, then added green Gelatos, mists, Jacquard Lumiere paint, then  used the Kaisercraft Botanical background stamp from the kit. Finally she added splashes with mists, Nuvo Antique Rose Crystal Drops (from our store), liquid glass drops and  pearls and also used  Graphic 45 chipboard and a resin flower from the February kit.

Mixed Media Monday with Laura

Good morning!

I tend to crate mostly layouts but once in a while I love to try new things... that is one of the things I love about the hobby...trying new things and if I love it the results than great if I didn't then I learned and try again.

Luckily this one of the times where I loved the results...

I used the Scraps of Darkness April kit to alter this wine bottle....

I did layers of gesso, gel medium, stamping, molding paste, crackle medium and Lindy's and dylusions mist...this is the result

 

 

The adorable Prim resin owl is from a previous Scraps of Darkness kit...I treated it the same as I did the flowers and the other pieces...I covered them in gesso then added layers of mists, I used the Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist Steampunk Sepia from the color add on, the Prima Color Bloom Soft Teal from the store, and Dylusions squeezed orange inky spray from a previous kit.  After I was done misting and everything was try I added Prima Finnabair Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint Metallique Steampunk Copper and
Metallique Fresh Orange.

 

Here you can see the Kaisercraft script stamp I used from elements add on.

The key and lock were also from a previous kit 

This cool Tim Holtz metal band is from the elements add on that I altered with the gesso and mists and paint.

 

My next project was a lot of fun too....

I bought a couple of the Brusho crystal colours from the 

Scraps Of Darkness Store.

These things are so much fun....I am going to order more colors..

 

I started with a piece of 7dots paper that I had in my stash.

I covered it in clear gesso and allowed to dry.  I then used a Crafters Workshop stencil with some molding paste and heat set it.  I sprayed my paper with a bit of water and then started adding the brusho powder in turquoise and lime green. 

I then spritzed with more water and allowed the colors to mix and mingle.

See those really cool multi color flowers?  I used brusho on them too!  They are Petaloo DIY paintable Dahlias and Rosebuds.

I spritzed them with a bit of water...added the brusho colors then spritzed again. Cool affect.

I covered the chipboard with  ink lightly then took the pieces and ran through the colors that were left on my crafts mat.
