Kit Club Member Feature!

Good morning, it's Friday!  After enjoying a couple holiday weekends, this week seemed to take forever, but the weekend is finally upon us!

Today we are featuring a wonderful lady.  She is one of our kit club members, is active in our Facebook Group, and is just an all around great person!

Monica Longard

I have been scrapbooking since March of 2012. I got started when I went to my first crop – all I had with me was two small envelopes of pictures and clippings about my store that I wanted to do something fun with. The group that organizes the crop had so many great draws and prizes that I went home literally with BAGS of products – I even won a Vagabond!
I have since become an organizer for The Big One – the large crop held in my home town where I began my scrapbooking journey. I have taught classes at subsequent crops and have been asked to teach at another scrapbook store in my community in the fall.  My husband also built me a large scrapbooking space in our basement (22 feet by 20 feet) – it is large enough for me to host mini-crops with my friends which we do on a fairly regular basis.
Since starting in 2012, I have gotten totally into my art. I do traditional scrapbooking – layouts and albums – but what I do more than anything and enjoy the most is Altered Art.  My first major project – a mini chest of drawers that I made for a friend when she had her first child – was published in Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine (the Spring 2013 issue).  I enjoy making mini albums for friends, and I have recently started doing swaps, which has been so much fun.  I display many of my projects in my home as well as the store I own. And I have been contacted by Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine saying they want to share my space in their “Where I Create” section.
I just started a blog – MonDo Creations – as another avenue to promote my creativity and to help me in the future when applying for design teams. I really want to share what I create with all the new crafty friends I am making through this journey.
I absolutely love everything about crafting and look forward to continuing it for many years to come.

You can find Monica's blog here:  http://buffylongard.blogspot.com/

And, of course, we want to share some of the beautiful things Monica has made!  She was working with our November Serenade kit for these:

"The first is a layout I did with a picture of my niece Madison.  I used
paper from the kit, along with flowers, ribbon and embellishments from
the creativity add-on and flower add-on."

Aren't Monica's stars just beautiful?!  I bet they shimmer and shine in real life!  And look at the gorgeous heart ornament she made - the first photo is the bakc of the heart, and the second photo is the front:

"

"Next, I used the alterable heart and stars from the creativity add-on to
create the stars and heart hanging ornaments.  For the stars I used the
paint from the creativity and colour add ons, along with the pens and
sequins from those as well. Then I added flowers and embellishments and
ribbons.

I hope everyone likes them. These kits are just so great it is really
easy to create beautiful projects."

I know we like them, Monica, they are all fabulous, and I look forward to seeing your projects in the group whenever you post them!

Karens gorgeous mixed media project!

Good morning everyone!
I hope you are all having a wonderful Thursday

Karen is up today with a gorgeous mixed media project!

She used the Jillibean Soup - Mix The Media Collection - 10"x10" Galvanized Surface Plaque from the Creativity add on pictured here

now here is the stunning project....

She did a lot of layers and then used some molding paste to create some snowflakes with the Stamp Your Story stencil from the kit.  She also sprinkled a bunch of the "Spoonful Of Sugar" Encrusted Jewels around the flakes. Then used the American Crafts "Pop" Microbeads and bling to surround the photo.  She prayed some cheesecloth with the "Jassy Jirin' Purple" by Lindy's Stamp Gang for the color kit to surround the flower cluster as well as the chipboard snowflakes from Blue Fern Studios .  All the flowers are from the kit.

A simply Stunning Mixed Media Layout from Lisa Griffith!

Good Morning everyone!

I hope everyone is have a wonderful morning!

Today I am sharing a gorgeous layout from Lisa Griffith using the
Scraps Of Elegance 'Ever True' kit!

'Hello'

She started with the paper 'Figurados' from the Cigar Box Secrets collection by Prima as the base, and then layered on pieces of the Graphic 45 Raining Cats and Dogs collection under her photo. She used pieces of paper from the Prima Cigar Box Secrets 3x4 Journaling Cards....these two collections go really well together.

 Fabulous dimension!

She created some texture in her background by using a Tim Holtz mask and heavy white gesso,
then  went back and traced some of the letters with the beautiful chocolate colored
Copic Atyou Spica marker that was included with the kit.

LOVE the grunge!

The first Scraps of Elegance kit for 2015 is here!

Happy New Year!

It's the first day of January, and the first day of 2015, and our newest kit is here today!

We've started something a little new in 2015... We have an AMAZING Design Team - not only are these ladies talented, they are dedicated, great friends, and a joy to work with, so I wanted to do a little something to honor them.  In 2015, each of our designers will have a kit named after them.

So we kick off 2015 with our January "Renea's Charm" kit!

This month, we are featuring Kaisercraft's gorgeous Rustic Harmony and Fabscraps' beautiful new Elegant Chic collections.  We've included some gorgeous Prima resin, some of those wonderfully textured burlap sunflowers from Petaloo, fun printed tissuestock from Canvas Corp, and of course, Renea's stunning hand crafted butterflies!

These are the patterned papers you will find in the main kit, but they are also available as an add on, just in case one sheet of paper isn't enough (I always have a hard time limiting myself to using one side of the paper, so I love having 2 sets so that I can use both sides):

And what the heck, we are all paper-crafters, and who doesn't want more paper?  So we always have a Coordinating Paper add on to give you even more choices - these papers are not in the main kit, but they work beautifully with the papers and embellishments in the main kit:

We also have the Embellishment Add On, so that you will have even more options for embellishing your projects: (we've included some gorgeous Venice Lace this month - one of Renea's favorite things to work with!):

Love working with mixed media products?  Our next two add ons are perfect for that!

The Color Add On:

And our Creativity Add On, featuring the new small Receipt Holder from Jillibean Soup's Mix The Media collection!

If you'd like to see a detailed list of everything that's included in our kit and add ons, or purchase any of them, please stop by our website.

Thank you for stopping by today, and I hope you all have a beautiful and creative new year!
