More Off the Page projects!

Good morning!
Today I am sharing a couple of gorgeous projects that I am sure will inspire you to go beyond the layout!

Annie created this beautiful art journal page using the 'Garden Gala' kit!

She started by gluing different pieces of Finnabair's Ephemera with pieces of ribbon included in the kit then covered everything with Gesso followed by different colors of sprays.  When everything was dry, she used a stencil with Heavy Gesso and let it dry naturally because she did not want bubbles. She used Blue Fern's stamp and made some more splashes then some embellishment.

Next we have a stunning canvas from  Daria also using the Garden Gala kit

such a beautiful color combo!
and here are her details....

Daria also created a couple of beautiful cards...

wonderful cards anyone would love to get in the mail!

Spotlight on Art Journals!

Good Morning!

Art Journals are journals in which the artists uses words and art to express themselves. It is a collection of words and images that documents the creative side, ideas, and memories of the person creating it.

Art journals are as individual as the person creating them

Today I am sharing two different art journals
The first one is from Lisa Griffith using the Scraps Of Elegance

The 'Garden Gala' kit included the Prima Finnabair Ephemera Pack called 'Melange' and she wanted to do something special with these cards and make them the star of the show so to speak.

and her beautiful details

She created her background with heavy white gesso through stencil, then used Ink and turquoise mist.  Lots of stamping and then she sewed together some of the turquoise and beige ribbon
with some scraps of white cotton lace to add texture.

She used some Stampendous Embossing Powders from a previous kit on the chipboard swirl - love how it looks rusty and aged.

The next art journal is from Anna also using the Garden Gala kit

and her beautiful details

Two gorgeous art journals as individual as the talented ladies that created them!

Thanks for stopping by.

Mixed Media Monday: Altered Altoids Tin!

For today's version of Mixed Media Monday, we're sharing the most wonderful off-the-page project!

Altered Altoids Tin by Lisa Novogrodski
Lisa Novogrodski created this amazing altered Altoids tin using things from our store (that's right, we are more than just kits - we have a store, too!).

Here's what Lisa says about her project:

Probably one of my most favorite projects EVER right here! I can see myself buying Altoids on a weekly basis. There was time when I was addicted to the cinnamon ones. In fact they helped me quit smoking..... but that's a story for another day.

This project was inspired by the gorgeous Melissa Frances Flea Market Applique. You can grab one for yourself in the store HERE.

I envisioned it all rusty with a patina finish enhancing a box of sorts. Lately I have been into vintage art dolls/ vintage images silhouette cut and book pages. I decided to created a shadowbox from an altoid tin and bring it to life with lots of grungy texture.

First  I painted the Melissa Frances piece and the altoid tin in black gesso found HERE

After it dried I used Ranger Distress Crackle Paint in Picket Fence on both pieces. I like the white because I can paint over it in any color. I then went to work with Silks in cinnamon brown --- there is a Nutmeg color in the store that would work just as well found HERE.

After that was applied I then went over it in Inka Gold and I have a variety of "smooch" paints from Donna Salazaar that I like to use on metal. I use blues and rusts to give it an aged finish.

After all my painting was done and dry I used Stampendous Gold Encrusted Jewels found HERE
and then some beautiful Mini Prills in Spruce Willis - we have a ton of Prills in the shop in a variety of colors you can find them HERE  along with Gel Medium to apply them found HERE.

Inside the box I created a beautiful little scene. I used papers from the January Scraps of Darkness Kit. You can find our kit subscriptions HERE.

I used some of the Kaisercraft paper in my background and then layered over it with Blue Fern Studios Checker Bits --- we carry a ton of gorgeous Blue Fern Chipboard you can find it HERE. I painted over the chipboard in the Silks Cinnamon Brown and then embossed in Stampendous in Encrusted Jewels in Gold found HERE. The image is from Digital Collage Sheets.

I layered the image over two little rosettes I created with book pages. These were created with a Tim Holtz Die. The little heart was also from the January Scraps of Darkness Kit.

Inside the tin on the opposite side I used the same Blue Fern Chipboard along with a beautiful Vintaj Arte Metal Buckle found HERE

The quote " I carry your heart in my heart" is taken from some Graphic 45 papers also found in the January Kit. It's nice to have these supplies on hand from kits because you have items that coordinate and are also adding to your stash of supplies. ;)

I've also embossed some little beads and yes I got these in a past kit!

The April Scraps of Darkness kit is here!

We had a bit of a wait for this one, due to our move, but the wait is over, our newest kit - Travel Stories - is here!

Scraps of Darkness April 2016 Travel Stories scrapbook kit
Our April kit is perfect for documenting your travels, or just your story. We've included papers from both Graphic 45's Cityscapes collection, and Kaisercraft's Story Book range, and added a few goodies for embellishing those papers (we think those Prima Vintage Emporium flowers are just perfect with these collections!).

These are the patterned papers you'll find in the kit, and they are also available separately via our Patterned Paper Add On:

April 2016 Scraps of Darkness Patterned Paper Add On

Our Coordinating Papers are not in the main kit, but they sure do go wonderfully with it! You get 2 sheets each of 5 different patterned papers in this add on:

More embellishing choices mean more possibilities, and more projects, with the main kit, so we think the Elements Add On is pretty spiffy:

And of course, who doesn't love flowers?! And so we have the  Floral Add On

April 2016 Scraps of Darkness Floral Add On

We also have a Color mediums Add On, and this month it's got some of that fabulous Prima/Finnabair Art Alchemy paint!

Our Creativity Add On has some Prima goodness in it, too: the new Frameworks birdhouse (and I must admit - I got one of these birdcages for myself, and it's a beauty!):

We've still got a few of these kits, as well as some of the add ons, available in our store, just stop by our 'Kits' page to pick one up or just get a better look at what's included.

Thank you for stopping by to see our new kit, and we hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Gorgeous mixed media tags from Denisa!

Good morning!
I love tags - they are little works of art and are created in all different styles and sizes!
Denisa has created two gorgeous mixed media tags using the
Scraps Of Darkness Heirloom kit!

She cut out the two sizes of tags and adhered them together, then applied a thin layer of clear gesso and also added some white gesso spots. She let it dry and used modelling paste over the TCW Rebekah Meier Design Stencil. When dry she started to add colours using Lindys Stamp Gang sprays and pigment powders. She did some random stamping and started to build up the cluster.

She also glued some white thread and Prills and added the Metal Key Charms, Industrious Stickers, Always and Forever Wedding Collection Resin Flowers, As the final touch she made some white, pinkish and black splatters then fastened the C´est Joli Ribbon.

Off the page project and cards with Nicole!

Good morning!
I really love Off The page projects and this week Nicole made
a fabulous canvas  using the Scraps Of Elegance
'Garden Gala' kit

This is a canvas created on corrugated cardboard and using the Butterfly Card Kit included in the Elements Add-On

She used some Imagine Ink embossing powders on the chipboard as well as on the sides of the canvas
to add some shimmer and texture.

She added some gold eyelets from her stash to adorn these darling butterfly tag images.

She also created two beautiful cards
with the same card kit inside the Elements add-on
