New Design Team Members!

We've got some exciting news to share today, we have a couple new additions to our Design Team!

You may or may not know that Debbie Sherman designs for our Scraps of Elegance kits, well we are thrilled that she will also be designing with our Scraps of Darkness Kits!

I'm Debbie and I live in Wyoming with my husband Jeff and our 2 Labs Mojo and Pearl. I'm also a grandmother of 7, who inspire me everyday, they are the reason I started scrapping!

I have been involved with one craft of another all my life.  I started out beading jewelry when I was about 7 and sewing when I was 12. One day I discovered scrap booking and then it became an obsession/passion!  My husband thinks I'm a hoarder now but I say I'm just well supplied. My style varies and over the years has changed.  One day I can be in a Shabby Chic mood and the next day  I find myself elbow deep in paint and art journals.  I'm a visual person and when I see a product I love I create around it.  I draw inspiration from many places, flea markets, family, grandkids, old and vintage and color.
I'm an avid photographer and have been blessed with many professional photo opportunities. I spend time with my camera daily. More photos = more scrapping!!
I'm beyond honored to be designing for Scraps of Darkness and with all the wonderfully talented designers you know.

AND...

Lizzy Wurmann will be joining our team as an Educator!  Lizzy's innovative and colorful work has long been an inspiration for me and so many others, and we're so excited that is joining us!

My name is Lizzy and I'm from Santiago, Chile.
I'm a mom of three kids. Daniela (30), Valentina (26) and Felipe (20).

I've been scrapbooking since 2005. I started  as a digital scrapbooker and then I joined many DT's (Doris Castle, Lawanna Dejardin, Michelle Shevland among others).
I got published in Somerset Memories, Somerset Digital Studio, Digital Scrapbooking (CK Media)...

In 2007 I started with traditional scrapbooking and now a days, I'm trying different techniques and styles and I'm in love with art journal and mixed media. I could say I have a free style,  sometimes quirky or abstract. I LOVE color, it inspires me to create.

Both of these talented ladies will begin inspiring us all with our March kit, and we can't wait to see what they do with it!

Welcome Debbie and Lizzy!

My first Style & Sophisitication reveal!

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing my first layout I did with the gorgeous Style & Sophistication kit!

I fell in love with the colors of this kit - they are stunning !

The lacey ribbon in the kit is beautiful but I wanted to do something more
with it so I used some gel medium and just before it was dry I wrapped it around my foam paint brush handle and let it finish drying!  So I got this cool ringlet - then I added some gesso.
The pretty blue flowers were the white flowers from last months kit that I sprayed with mist from a previous kit!  I also added gesso to the kit flowers

I used my mask and some modeling paste to create the background then I used my gelatos from the store and then sprayed the image with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist - Midnight Rendezvous Raven from the color add on.
I also 'dropped' mists around the page

Graphic 45 Couture tag journal tutorial - Make It In Minutes! by Renea!

Want to create a gorgeous gift or a place where you can journal and tuck in some of your favorite memories, but don't have a lot of time to put into it? Well, then I have a fast and FABulous project that you can put together in about 20 minutes, and it will look like you spent hours on it!! All you need is this month's Scraps Of Darkness Style and Sophistication Kit, a flower from the Floral Add On (or one from your stash) some glue and some foam tape and you will be set to create this Couture Tag Pocket Journal:

Step One:
Take the Graphic 45 Couture Collections - Accessorize Paper from the Kit and
Cut at 8 inches (You will have a 8 inch tall x 12 inch wide piece)
Score at 6 inches
Then fold in 1/2

Step Two:
Mark a 45 degree angle down the front side of the fold and cut away  the top section.
Glue open side and bottom together to form a "pocket".

Step Three:
Take the May Arts Black Lace cut to  fit angle and then adhere.

 Step Four:
Cut a 4 1/2 inch x 6 inch rectangle from the Graphic 45-Stunning paper in the Kit.
Distress the edges and ink with the Ingvild Bolme Rusty Bucket Ink from the Kit.
Center and adhere with glue to the pocket.

Step Five:
Fussy Cut out the "Simply Stunning" piece from the Graphic 45-Elegant Paper from the Kit.
Layer on top of the rectangular piece and adhere with glue.

 Step Six:
Create a pocket using the Graphic 45  Tags And Pockets piece.
Adhere with foam tape on top of rectangle.

Step Seven:
Take matching "Simply Stunning" tag from the Graphic 45 Tags And Pockets.
Punch hole at the top.
Take a 5 1/2 inch length of the Darice Trim from the Kit, cut it in 1/2, and tie one of the halves through the punched hole, and tuck the tag into the Pocket.

Step Eight:
Fussy cut the women from the Graphic 45-Elegant Paper in the kit.
Add it to the side of the pocket using foam tape down the backside and letting the lady in black overlap the pocket for wonderful dimension.

 Step Nine:
Take a stash flower or one of the Paprika Wild Blossoms from the Floral Add on and add it to the bottom of the lady in terra cotta's dress, then add in one dark and one light Kaisercraft Olive Paper Bloom from the Kit.

Step 10:

Cut out the remaining 4 Journal Cards from the Graphic 45-Elegant Paper.
Punch holes at the top, and use pieces of the May Arts Black Lace and Darice trims to form pulls.
Tuck the cards in layers into the pocket.

And there you have it - a wonderful pocket full of double sided pull out tags for journaling, placing small photos onto or for sending notes on!! A perfect gift or piece for any Fashion Diva~made in minutes!!
I hope you have enjoyed my quick and easy project and if you get a chance to create one of your own, please be sure to drop by and show it off ~Hugs~Renea

Kathy's beautiful projects

Good morning everyone!

Today I wanted to show you a couple of layouts by Kathy

I just adore her color combo - the bright green just pops off the beautiful blue!
The many layers, background work, distressed edges and the cardboard create texture and circles seem to create motion.  I also love how she laid the cord out!

The next one I will show you so sweet!
I love so many elements of this one - the die cuts, the doily behind the photo, the beautiful clusters!
It is such a beautiful layout!

Getting to Know Bente!

I was so super excited when Bente joined our team!

She is so uber talented and I love her style!!!!!

How long have you been scrapbooking?

I have actually been scrapping for a few years now.
I am not sure how many.., and the first years don't really count anyway as I have hidden away those pages at the back of my wardrobe LOL!
It is only the last three years since I started my blog that I have become more serious in my creating and have evolved as a scrapbook artist.
I started playing around on different challenge sites etc and learned a lot.

What was your favorite subject in school?

When I was a child I enjoyed and was even good at all the subjects at school. I think I enjoyed languages history and geography the most.
I did not like maths so much but still ended up doing economics and statistics at university,....

What's your favorite movie of all time?

There are so many great movies, I cannot say that I have a clear favourite.
Just to mention a few; Local Hero (with Burt Lancaster) , Lorenzo's oil, (with Susan Sarandon) , Nostalghia (by Andrei Tarkovski)
and on a lighter note Something's Gotta Give (with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson)

Aside from food, water, and shelter, what one thing could you not go a day without?

I need my scrapbooking supplies and my computer! From there I could probably do almost anything I want.
(At least it seems like that right now, but who really knows what you will miss the most until you don't have it anymore :-D)

Would you rather have a Margarita or Pina Colada?

Could I have both please,.... I don't really drink very often as I normally have to drive my kids somewhere.
Still you managed to pick my two favourites.
We lived in Mexico for three years and I developed a longlasting love for Margaritas, and apart from these two drinks I love me a good cold Mojito!
Cheers!! So happy to be here at Scraps of Elegance!!

Lets check out one of Bente's outstandingly beautiful layouts
She Used the gorgeous pink KaiserCraft papers with the stickers, pearlstring and lace.

the layering is perfect!

The gorgeous clusters!

I love the dimension she achieved

Check back in the next few days for more of Bentes gorgeous work!
