Layouts with black and white photos

I love the drama black and white photos add to some layouts and the softness that it adds to others.
Black and white photos, to me, focus on the subject without the distraction.
Here are three very different layouts all using black and white photos!

The first layout I am sharing is from Kathy using our new Scraps Of Darkness kit 'Heirloom'

Kathy used a 'period time' photo in black and white with a tint of color....

She started by using the Blue Fern Studios Timeless collection "Song" paper for the background, which was included in the main kit, and also in the Patterned Paper Add On, and added white paint splatters.  She used some Viva Decor Rose Modeling Creme with a stencil and she stamped around the area where the photo would go, using the Blue Fern Studios Arcadia Textures Stamps which were included in the Creativity Add On.

She die cut a doily, and cut it in half to use at the top and bottom of the photo, then created the photo frame by using more dies.  She stamped a flourish design at the top and bottom and then randomly stamped around the edges.  She used clear crackle paste on the whole frame to get an aged effect.  On the inside of the frame she used the Tim Holtz Industrious Gallery stickers from the main kit (but also available in our store),  then used American Crafts POP! black microbeads that came in a previous kit, but are also available in our store.

She created the title at the bottom of the picture using a Prima Royal Menagerie chipboard piece from our January Scraps of Elegance kit, and a Blue Fern Studios Framed Trinkets chipboard piece from our store.  She heat embossed the chipboard using two different colors; one from this month’s Color Add On and a pink from a previous kit.

She created flower clusters using the gorgeous Kaisercraft  Paper Blooms included in the Main Kit and flowers from previous kits.   She also included some silver metal trinkets which came in previous kits.

The chipboard leaf flourishes are from her stash.  First she painted them with Tim Holtz’s Distress spray Stain in “Peeled Paint”, then covered the flourishes with crackle paste, then inked them to get the crackle to show through. She then covered them with brass microbeads.  At the top of the flourishes are these little pods that she covered with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Antique Rose, which was included in the Main Kit but is also available in our store, along with lots of other colors

To finish she added various glitters and microbeads in various places around the layout.

I am up next with a wonderful photo of my husband and I that I showcased using the amazing 'Beloved' kit from Scraps Of Darkness

I decided to use a black and white photo for my layout because it toned down the distractions and  focused on my hubby and I

For this layout I used the awesome Graphic 45 'Mon Amour' papers from the kit, and they are also available in the store.
I sprayed a doily black for a little more drama

I fussy cut the saying from the paper and put it under a frame and added a chipboard title all from my stash.
I inked them with a black ink pad then used black and red embossing powder to add some visual interest.
I made the flower cluster with flowers from the kit, floral add on and some from previous kits!

I also fussy cut some of the diamonds from the paper.
The hearts are from the kit and I inked them with the worn lipstick ink from the color add on and then embossed them with the ranger rose quartz.
And finally a stunning layout from Daria using our January
Scraps Of Elegance kit 'Adore'
The black and white photo in this layout is soft and romantic
and here are some of her beautiful details

Thanks so much for stopping by!
