TWO new mixed media tutorials with our Tiffany's Style kit

Happy Halloween, and Happy Weekend!
Today we're sharing two new tutorials with our October Tiffany's Style Kit.
The first is a step by step mixed media beach layout by Tracey Sabella, and the second is a quick tutorial by Tiffany, showing how she added color to the Prima Paintables that were in the Creativity Add On for October.

Tracey used our October Tiffany's Style kit to create this gorgeous layout, as well as the Floral, Elements, and Creativity add ons, and the Stampendous Spoonful of Rust from our Oct. SOD Creativity add on.  Here's her tutorial, followed by a few close up photos:

And our second video for today is for this beautiful project:

Tiffany used the Prima Paintables (8x10) and the Prima Watercolor Pencils that were in our October Tiffany's Style Creativity Add On, and she did a process video showing how she colored the elements on the Paintables Print.  Here's her video:

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you have a safe and fun Halloween!

Tomorrow's the big day, and if you're a last minute kind of person like me, we've got the perfect tutorial for you!

Tanya SonataJoy created a fun and spooky Halloween Card and Treat Bag set with our Oct. Danse Macabré kit, and she's done a Youtube video tutorial showing her step-by-step process:

Here are a few close ups - don't you just love the way her bat wings turned out?  The stamp was included in our October Creativity add on, and I just love the effect when they're stamped onto a transparency!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed Tanya's tutorial!

so much inspiration

Good morning!
It is really windy here - I had to go out and take down most of my Halloween decorations because of the crazy strong wind!  I did not feel like chasing my tombstones down the road!

First up is Kathy with this  fangtastic Halloween layout!

She started with the border paper from Carta Bella included in one of the Paper Add Ons and fussy cut around the inside of the border, so she could mount it on the background paper that I've chosen which is from G45 "Rare Oddities" from the Main Kit. She inked around both the inside and outside of the papers so they would stand out.  She stamped in various places on the background for some grunge effects.
her next step was to layer mats for her photo. She used black Stickles in various places on her dress to jazz it up a bit.

We got some real cool embossing powder from Stampendous called Embossing Tinsel in "Vintage Olive" which she used on the circle chain chipboard from her stash that she cut into 2 pieces so that I could use it in separate places.

She fussy cut around a little flower spray that was in one of the Paper Add Ons and put some tulle behind it.

There are 3 little tags peeking out on the left side of the lo, which came from last year's kit.  The little raven is from a last year's Halloween kit, which she just used black gesso on.  She also used some black and orange twine to make a little bow that sits behind the flower cluster.

In the top flower cluster she used black pearl cotton for the little bow and another gorgeous Petaloo flower from her stash.

Next I have a beautiful OTP from Lynne using the
October Scraps Of Elegance kit

After painting the edges of the piece she covered each letter with patterned paper from the beautiful Prima Royal Menagerie collection from the kit then sanded the edges before inking them. The base was also covered with coordinating paper.

She added tulle to the base behind the word to showcase the  paper butterflies which were attached to  pearl sprays. The dragonfly and shells are Prima resin pieces which were dry brushed with acrylic paint; the shells were included in this month's SOE kit and the dragonfly was from a previous kit. Some ribbon roses and pearls completed the project.

Family time.....

Good morning!
Today I am sharing a gorgeous layout by Lisa Novogrodski...

She used a mixed of both collections, her main papers focus on the Kaisercraft collection and she has bits of the Prima torn and applied beneath the photo area and distressed and layered in the background.

The mixed media parts of her project utilize Lindys mist - she lightly misted, used some splatters and also a paintbrush with water to start her first layer, then added some Distress Ink with the Prima stencil "Decor"...stamping over that with the Prima stamp "Royal Menagerie clear stamps 2". These are found in our Elements Add On ------ HERE
More splatters were added with gesso and her favorite gold Lumiere paint.

These florals are from both the Scraps of Elegance Kit and Scraps of Darkness Kits for October.
You can find them in the add ons ------ here   and here

Also some are found in the Main Kits as well.

The chipboard is gorgeous Blue Fern "Circle Groups" found in the Elements Add On

She used a lot of technique on the chipboard first coating it in gesso and then painting in a yellow tone acrylic, then embossed with Stampendous in  Encrusted Jewels in Pink found here

She also embossed with Distress Powders in Vintage Photo and California Stucco. Add to that painting in with Lumber in Metallic Rust and Pink Gold

She loves those embossing powders and by painting and layering with both you can achieve beautiful results. She also used a little bit of Silks acrylic paints in a pink tone.

Mixed Media Monday!

I am so excited to bring you this weeks creations for
Mixed Media Monday!

First up we have Lisa Novogrodski, using the October
Scraps Of Darkness 'Danse Macabre' kit.

The background is mixed media with the portrait drawn over it. In our kits we received Lindys Mists in  "Go Greased Lightnin, Sidewalk Chalk and Jazzy Jivin Purple" she used Dina Wakley stencils in the background from past Scraps of Darkness Kits as well as some acrylic paints.
You can find our mixed media products in the shop --- HERE
She used charcoal and Pitt Pens with a "scribble" drawing technique.

We received these fun stamps perfect for Halloween in the Creativity Add On ---- HERE
The stamps are from Paper Parachute - Art Tartz Bat Wings and Bat Woman that she used in the background. Hard to see in the large view of the portrait but you can see them here in the close ups.

This one is the bat wings...

... And here is the bat woman blending into the background...

next up we have Wilma with  an bewitching art journal page
also using this months Scraps Of Darkness kit

She started with one of the papers from the kit, nothing left from that anymore... She used two masks and modeling paste, cheesecloth and a lot of color...
Before she went to work on the picture cluster and paste on a THICK layer of gesso

and another devilishly awesome project from Wilma....

this spooky art journal page is frightfully wonderful!

To archieve the feeling of a hole behind the tree she worked in black paint.

Weekend Inspiration

Good morning!
It is going to be a beautiful weekend here.....
not sure how much scrapping I will get done but I am hoping to!

I wanted to share a creation I did using the October
Scraps Of Darkness' Danse Macabre' kit

Our two boys LOVED to dress up in scary costumes for Halloween....no cute costumes here!

I loved working with the Authentique Moonlit papers!  so fun!

I used flowers from the floral add on, some from previous kits and some I bought at the SOD store!

The feather is from the a previous SOD kit!

I added the Stampendous Black Crushed Glass Glitter from the elements add on to various flowers, the Prima metal embellishments (also from EAO) and the feather!

I LOVE the Pewter May Arts Crocheted Thread Ribbon....it is really cool!

In the main kit we received Tim Holtz Idea-ology Boneyard Resin Skulls and I could not resist sticking one in in the flower!

I inked some bats that were in last years Halloween kit from UmWow studios

The Blue Fern Studios Chipboard Ironwork Edge is
really fabulous!  I trimmed the end off because I wanted to use the Prima light from last months kit.
I then inked it, then embossed it with the Stampendous Embossing Enamel in Aged Black.
I also added some more of the glitter glass.

Next up is wonderful creation from Michelle

Awesome layers and I love kitty kats!

Next is a super sweet layout from Tracey Gregory.

By using the reverse side of the Halloween papers she showed how versatile this kit is.

She used the crushed glitter glass on the Blue Fern chipboard!

and finally I have this fabulous mixed media layout from Lynne using the Scraps Of Elegance October 'Tiffany's Style' kit

and her wonderful details....
